Gender Empathy Citizenship

THE PAPER QUESTIONS THE TRADITIONAL APPROACH THAT CONSIDERS THE MALE PSYCHE AS THE UNIQUE AND UNIVERSAL MIND OF THE HUMAN SPECIES, AND THE MECHANISMS THAT CHARACTERISE POWER IN THE PUBLIC SPHERE AS THE NATURAL AND INEVITABLE ONES WITH THE CONSEQUENCE THAT THE ATTEMPT BY LIBERALISM TO CONTROL THE ELITE OF POWER, TRADTIONALLY A MALE ELITE, IS THE MOST THAT CAN BE ACHIEVED. BASED ON AN ANTROPOLOGICAL-PSYCHOANALYTICAL APPROACH, THE AUTHOR CLAIMS A GENDER DIFFERENCE IN THE PSYCHOLOGICAL STRUCTURE OF THE HUMAN SPECIES, DUE AS FAR AS COLLECTIVE LIFE IS CONCERNED TO SOCIAL EVOLUTION. CRITICISING MAINSTREAM PREMISES IN THE VARIOUS FIELDS OF SOCIAL SCIENCE, THE AUTHOR PROPOSES IN THIS LIGHT A RE-EVALUTATION OF COMUNITARISM MADE POSSIBLE BY THE STILL EMBRIONAL, BUT PROMISING ACCESS OF WOMEN TO PUBLIC LIFE.
