The textdescribes the achievements, setbacks and resistance in a society with a markedly complex institutional set up during the change process, from a traditional or other point of view based on the principles of convention on children´s rights. Following the example of Costa Rica it was necessary to verify in what manner the emancipating view and radically new way of looking at childhood proposed by the CRC collided with the reality, still considered to be reticent, to learn from the process to be implemented in other societies.
